Chinese Takeout

Tonight for dinner we had honest-to-goodness Chinese takeout.  We went to a place called Good Noodles (or so we’re told) that is right across the street from the hotel.  We looked around for quite a while before we settled on Good Noodles.  We had no clue what we wanted to eat, but we knew that it couldn’t be KFC or Pizza Hut.  We walked up and asked if they had an English menu, which they did.  Sort of.  The translation left a little to be desired.  For example, when we left, we were not sure what kind fungus was in the fungus soup.  We weren’t even sure if fungus was the right word.  The girls got a seafood dumpling soup, which was actually well-liked by all three.  I had a beef brisket soup that was pretty good.  There was some chili paste in our bag that Kennedy and I used to liven up the broth.  I used one and she used three.  I’m losing my nerve after the jambalaya and the cold noodles.  Unfortunately, Kennedy made hers so hot that she was fanning her mouth and sweating noticeably.  She had to blot her forehead at least once.  I got up to blow my nose twice after using one serving of chili paste. She used three and never left the table.  Ouch.

Those of you who know Annie well will recognize immediately that this place is not her typical establishment.  Though it appeared to be clean and well-maintained, it is far from P.F. Chang’s.  Annie commented a little while later that she could not believe that she ate a seafood dumpling from a no-name restaurant in China.  I can’t believe it either, because she has a very low tolerance for suspicious health department activity.

We’ll remember it fondly though.  We had a good meal and a good time, even though we walked our rear ends off and ended up eating at a table built for one and a half.
