We are having a pretty good hummingbird year this year. We are one feeder away from our record of six, set in 2005. Right before Rita hit the Gulf Coast we had six feeders going and Annie was adding food once or twice every day.
We have about twenty birds this year, based upon the activity level and the fact that they will feed while we are outside. In 2005, we had distinct tribes that would occupy specific feeders and would attack rival birds at "their" feeder. This time, it's kind of a love fest and everybody is mingling. And so far, nobody has crashed into the living room window this year!
Is it weird to have so much fun watching birds eat? For us, it's very peaceful or very entertaining, depending on who's doing what.
