Today, we took a short trip to the Yuntai Garden. We were there with Mia, but it was a totally different experience. This time, the topiary displays were gone, in favor of natural-looking plants. We had about two and a half hours to do the tour today and we only needed about 45 minutes. It was very nice, but we had seen it before. The girls were not as excited about it as we were. We were done early, so we went and hung out in the shade. It was about 80˚ in Guangzhou today. Happy Holidays, everybody!! We ended up next to the gift shop. The girls bought bubble guns and ice cream. We sat next to some locals who were not as enthusiastic about the bubbles as we were. There was one great-grandmother who was waving away the bubbles and shooting daggers from her eyes at the girls. Needless to say, we moved the bubble war far away.
There was another group of younger women who were there with their kids. They tried to make conversation. Some of it in English, and most in Chinese. We figured out a couple of the Chinese comments, but swung and missed badly on a lot of it. They laughed at us more than once. One of the women had a couple of kids that were pretty cute. They were dressed in traditional Chinese gear, which seemed unusual. She told Annie that she was beautiful, which of course made her uncomfortable, even though it was true.
